Welcome to the highest quality Ragtime Piano / Stride Piano & Jazz Piano Synthesia channel on UA-cam. On this channel I will primarily post Synthesia videos from modern to the roots of jazz music. Documentaries and other music related content will be posted every now and then as well.
As some of you might have already seen I have also uploaded some A.I. videos created with a software program named Concert Creator A.I.
Unfortunately the company shutdown their service so there won't be new A.I. anytime soon but luckily I was able to create some cool videos.

Arthur Owen Marshall (November 20, 1881 - August 18, 1968) was an American composer and performer of ragtime music from Missouri. He was a protege of famed ragtime composer Scott Joplin.
Marshall was born on a farm in Saline County, Missouri, the son of Emily Marshall, a washerwoman, and Edward Marshall, who had no discernible career, on November 20, 1881. A few years later his family moved to Sedalia, Missouri because black children were allowed to attend school nine months a year there as opposed to the three months allowed blacks elsewhere, and the Sedalia townspeople were reportedly more accepting of African Americans.
The Marshalls lived at 135 West Henry Street. Marshall attended elementary school in Sedalia. He was only fifteen years old when Scott Joplin first arrived in Sedalia. Joplin took up residence with the Marshall family, and before long both Marshall and Scott Hayden, a Lincoln High School classmate of Marshall, became Joplin's protégés.
Marshall had already taken some private lessons in classical music years before, and was versed with piano technique and a gift for syncopation. Joplin also helped get Marshall a job at the Maple Leaf Club during its single year of existence in 1899. In the club on October 1, 1899, Marshall got into a fight with a young man named Ernst Edwards over Edwards's girlfriend. They took their fight outside, Marshall pummeled Edwards with his cane, Edwards drew a gun, and Marshall ran away.

@@itsRemco I listened three times. It's one single note, I don't know what to tell you XD Bosendorfers have VERY colorful bass though so if you're listening to overtones then that makes sense. But I know that's a single note after having played 9 foot grands and listening pretty intently.

The Best in piano
This is probably the hardest Ragtime piece there is if played exactly like here (only if you don't consider Tiger Rag by Tatum or Stride in general as Ragtime that is). Tatum might have even dropped a sweat here with that many octaves (might).

Awesome. There are notes in common with Tatum's 1953 solo version from around 0:45 to 2:00. Why ?
J. Lawrence Cook used to arrange his piano rolls sometimes in a certain style (Fats Waller, Art Tatum, Teddy Wilson etc.) so my guess would be that he felt like Art Tatum between those timestamps hahah

I made a recording of this piece I put on my channel. A few hours later I got a message from Piotr over discord complaining about the tempo. I was watching another person performing this piece at a similar tempo and then thought he would probably be in the comment section complaining about the tempo and he was haha

I'm no expert but I believe Roberts was great in both Ragtime and Harlem Stride 😂!
There is a piano solo recording of this song from 1916 from Roberts, but it tragically is lost from what I can tell.
